Location

Cockle Bay Wharf 1 Wheat Road Sydney, NSW 2000
An iconic location and an iconic celebration, we don’t think there’s a better way to spend Australia Day than at Cockle Bay.

Australia Day means something different to all Australians and everyone celebrates in their own way. At Cockle Bay Wharf, we’ve got something for Australians of all shapes and sizes. From little kids to kids at heart, you’ll love spending January 26that our place.

Let’s do lunch

Ditch the barbie (and the dishes) for a luxury lunch at one of Sydney’s favourite dining precincts. With 14 restaurants and bars to choose from, there’s a dining experience for all tastes.

Go bottomless at Café Del Mar with a 3-hour long-lunch and beverage package. Book a table for you and your crew, this menu is designed to share. If something more informal is on the cards, you can choose from a cheap pub lunch at Pontoon Bar, late boozy brunch at Blackbird Café or go á la carte at Nick’s Seafood, I’m Angus, Adria Bar & Restaurant and Tokio Hotel.

Steaks, seafood and Aussie wines not to your taste? Don’t worry, Baia The Italian will be serving up all of your favourites for an Italian-inspired Australia Day lunch.

Fun for the whole family

This Australia Day there are family-friendly activities galore happening all-day-long in Darling Harbour.

Tumbalong Park will transform into a ‘Summer Playground’ this Australia Day. The Wiggles* will hit the stage from 11 am - 12 pm, followed by more kids’ entertainment from The Vegetable Plot and The Beanies until 2 pm. There's also plenty of laughs for the whole family with ‘True Blue Bush Games’ including a thong-throwing challenge, watermelon-eating competition and more, up until 3 pm.

After 3 pm there will be DJs and live music from nine-piece funk-soul powerhouse band, The Bamboos.

Want to beat the crowds? Why not take the family or your date for a ride on the Cockle Bay Wharf Pedal Boats. With shade to keep you out of the sun and the whole of Cockle Bay to explore, you’ll love pedalling your heart out with your loved ones.

*The Wiggles Australia Day concert is ticketed. Tickets are allocated via a ballot released on Wed 16 Jan.

Stay for the fireworks finale

Our weekly fireworks will be lighting up the night sky for Australia Day! The spectacular light show starts at 9 pm and is the perfect end to Australia Day at Cockle Bay.
